My Story

One thing I’ve known for a very long time is that change is the only constant in life. It’s become a mantra I’ve repeated to myself time and time again as I’ve navigated various life challenges. So, when I noticed it happening again, I really shouldn’t have been so surprised or so pissed off!

The issue? I was getting older—my skin was becoming drier; it just didn’t feel like my skin anymore, despite the fact that I’ve used moisturizers and body lotions consistently since my 20s. I wasn’t as concerned about the wrinkles. I’d legitimately earned each and every one of them and really was not trying to look like I was 40 again. But even I had to admit that the wrinkles were starting to show up faster and faster and making me look older and older.

My old skincare routine simply wasn’t working anymore. So I began a quest to find something that would make my skin soft again, get rid of the patchy dry spots and was affordable -  an important factor for most people no matter what stage of life you’re in. I must’ve tried at least 15 new, different skincare products, each with different ingredients and a wide range of prices. I’d give them a fair try, use the whole jar, but I never felt fully satisfied. Sort of like having a great meal and then feeling hungry again a couple hours later. Nothing seemed to be quite the right fit for me.

On top of that, I’ve always struggled with sleep. Ambien was the only thing that worked, but as we all know, there are risks involved with that. What I didn’t realize was that my doctor would stop prescribing it once I hit my 70s.

So here I was, dealing with two issues at once, both of which I found majorly irritating—my skin and my sleep—and then I got some news that pushed my search into overdrive. During a routine dermatological exam, the doctor found a couple places that turned out to be cancerous. As far as skin cancer was concerned, I was told it was the "good" kind and I shouldn't worry. Now I don't know how you'd react , but hearing the word "cancer," good kind or not, freaked me out .

I'm an old hippie so I’d certainly heard about CBD, but I’d never tried it. To me, CBD was simply a cousin to cannabis that did not get you high, but I decided not to pre-judge and to give it a try. Much to my surprise, CBD helped me sleep better. It didn’t put me to sleep, but it helped me sleep for longer periods of time without waking up - a major improvement!  As I dug deeper into CBD and its various benefits, I also learned that it had major benefits for skin. With  this knowledge I decided to give CBD lotion a try.

That’s also when I started looking at other botanicals along with functional mushrooms and learned about the power of nanotechnology to enhance their effectiveness. That was the game-changer. Suddenly, I had a combination of botanicals, CBD and mushroom products that really worked for me. Obviously, nothing I researched addressed my skin cancer issue. There wasn't a "cure," and I'm not trying to suggest that any of Femme Botanicals' products will cure or even treat cancer. I'm simply saying that in my case, there weren't any adverse effects.

The results? I was sleeping better and feeling more energized. My skin was no longer dry—it felt softer, looked more vibrant, and yes, even a little younger. An old burn mark on my arm from a curling iron faded significantly. And while my wrinkles are still there (I am in my 70s, after all), they don’t seem as deep and there was a definite improvement in my skin texture.

I had finally found the right products for my new self-care routine—products that addressed my skin concerns and helped me feel better inside and out. I only wish I had discovered them sooner!

That’s how Femme Botanicals came to be. So if you choose to become one of my customers, know you're buying from “a little old lady” who is in LOVE with the feel of her skin again and is sleeping better each and every night! And I know you’re going to love them too.
